Privacy Policy

OWNIT builds custom software that businesses own outright. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run our business, we do not sell your data, and we never use it for cross-site advertising.
Who we are
OWNIT (“OWNIT”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a custom software studio serving businesses across the United States, Canada, Europe and India. For the personal information described in this policy, OWNIT is the data controller.
Where we host or operate software we have built for a client, we act as a data processor and handle end-customer data under that client’s instructions and our separate agreement with them. This policy covers our own website and business relationships, not the internal data of client systems.
For any privacy question, or to exercise a right below, contact us at hello@ownit24.com.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need. Depending on how you interact with us, that may include:
- Enquiry details you provide, your name, email, phone number, business name and the message or project brief you send.
- Booking information when you schedule a strategy call, including your selected time and any notes; the call is arranged through our scheduling and calendar tools.
- Client and project records if you engage us, including contracts, scope, invoices and correspondence.
- Communications you exchange with us by email, form, chat or call.
- Usage and analytics data, such as pages viewed and referring links, collected in a privacy-preserving way to help us improve the site.
- Technical data your browser sends automatically, such as IP address, device and browser type, and general location, used for security and to keep the site working.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to your enquiry and schedule and run your strategy call.
- Prepare proposals, and deliver, support and improve projects for clients.
- Send service messages such as confirmations, updates and invoices.
- Operate, secure and improve our website and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- Send occasional, relevant updates where permitted, which you can opt out of at any time.
Legal bases (EU/UK)
If you are in the EU or UK, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:
- Performance of a contract, to provide services you have requested or engaged us for.
- Legitimate interests, to respond to enquiries, run and improve our business, and keep the site secure, balanced against your rights.
- Consent, for optional analytics and marketing, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligation, where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
International transfers
Because we work across the US, Canada, Europe and India, your information may be processed in a country other than your own. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires. Enquiry data from people who do not become clients is typically kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymised. Client records, contracts and invoices are kept for as long as needed to provide support and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, after which they are securely deleted.
How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege access and reputable infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to limit what we collect in the first place. If a data breach affects your rights, we will notify you and any regulator as required by law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:
- Access a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your information where there is no overriding reason to keep it.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Port your information to another provider in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
- Complain to your local data protection authority (EU/UK), or exercise CCPA rights if you are a California resident, including to know, delete and opt out of “sale” (we do not sell data), with no discrimination for exercising them.
Children’s privacy
Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party links
Our site may link to third-party websites and demos we do not control. This policy does not apply to them; please review their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version, and we will highlight material changes where appropriate. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Contact us
To ask a question, exercise a right, or make a complaint about how we handle your data, email hello@ownit24.com and we will respond promptly. EU and UK users also have the right to complain directly to their local supervisory authority.
